Abstract:
In recent years, on the basis of published journal quality and quantity, the potential of researchers is strictly evaluated and they are classified as well. There are many indices such as Impact Factor (IF) and Hirsch index (h-index) which is applied for the mentioned evaluation. These indices are developed to obtain more accuracy of evaluated results as well as to get more user friendly. However, nowadays, h-index which was developed in the past does not consider the factor of journal quality. Therefore, based on the Journal Quartile Score (Q), the h-index is modified by considering factor of journal quality in the present research and the developed h-index is named hq-index. By using weighting technique based on the Journal Quartile Score classification, hq-index is calculated by (1) adjusting the number of cited journals in each own published journal and (2) adjusting the number of own published journals. As the results of the present research, they illustrate that, in terms of journal quality and quantity, the evaluation of potential of researchers by using hq-index is more accuracy than that by using h-index. Therefore, by considering factor of journal quality, the hq-index could be used as an effective tool to evaluate the potential of researchers and the consideration of raw data in terms of journal quality could be ignored.
