Abstract: This study focuses on Xi’an Cornfield Network Technology Co., Ltd as the case study. The company designed to implement the performance evaluation system since 2014, and the implementation of KPI (Key Performance Indicator) system in 2016. Implementation process were not implemented meaning and essence of management by objectives, and to authorize the various departments to formulate relevant forms according to business characteristics. Therefore, the whole company is no longer evaluated under uniform standards. This becomes a problem in management. Along with the increase in the number of employees, the existing KPI system cannot cope with the overall operation of the organization after its expansion. Therefore, performance evaluation system is important for both employer and employee. However, it is necessary for the company to know how well the employees at the company understand the performance evaluation system and how effective the performance evaluation system currently implemented at the company. This study aimed to study the performance evaluation system and the employees’ understanding of the performance evaluation system at the company through the mixed methods research approach, using questionnaire and interview for the data collection. The results of the study revealed that the company has changed the performance evaluation system to the new one. The new performance evaluation system has emphasized on employee training and development. Regarding to the employees’ understanding and attitude towards the new system, it was found that the new system is better inters of fairness and rationality
