Abstract:
Business activity in a country may be exposed to various factors such as culture,
politics, religion, economics, geography, history, climate and civilization. Company B
in his four main markets, Thailand and Vietnam has complete different religion, politics
and civilization compared to Bangladesh and Pakistan. Bangladeshs climate and
geography also has a drastic difference to Pakistan. Using revenue or profit to compare
market performance, would produce unrealistic results, due to the unique environment
of each market.
By using Company Bs data as the in/output item, and together with the DEA as
a method, this study will provide results regarding to business performance. The result
can be used taking in account of the different factors that can effect business activity
furthermore, to an extent, using logical explanations it can be used to predict future
decisions, rules and policies of the markets.
The result indicates greater performances in the later years in all markets. In
2009, affected by the global financial crisis, it was the worst year. Thailand and
Bangladeshs shows more promising results. But the Bangladesh market own low Scale
Efficiency Value, shows decreasing returns to scale. It is necessary to control the
spending on fixed costs. Vietnam market lacks Scale Efficiency, which causes
Increasing Return to Scale, should definitely expand in Vietnam in the future.
