Abstract: This study examines the decisions and behaviors of 2,425 ASEAN tourists who traveled to Thailand by air from March 2014 to June 2014. The primary objectives of this study are (1) to determine factors affecting the choice of low-cost airlines and full-service airlines and (2) compare the behavior of ASEAN tourists, who travel by low-cost airlines and full-service airlines regarding choice of airline, expenditure, and length of stay. A Probit model is employed to analyze the choice of airline. Descriptive statistics are used to explain travel style. The expenditure function is estimated using a Tobit model, and the Poisson regression model analyzes the length of stay. In terms of the choice of airline, respondents who reside in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam have a higher probability of flying low-cost airlines. Respondents who travel to Thailand for the first time have a higher probability of traveling with low-cost airlines than others. By contrast, highly-educated background respondents have a lower probability of traveling with low-cost airlines than loweducated background respondents. Married and couple respondents have a lower probability of flying with low-cost airlines than single, divorced, and widowed respondents. Christian respondents have a lower a probability of traveling with low-cost airlines than others. Respondents with a higher family income have a lower probability of choosing low-cost airlines than respondents who have a lower family income. Individual respondents have a lower probability of traveling with low-cost airlines than group respondents. In terms of expenditure, female respondents tend to spend more than male respondents. High-family income respondents tend to spend more than low-family income respondents. The respondents who traveled with low-cost airlines tended to spend more than respondents who traveled with full-service airlines. However, highly educated respondents tend to spend less than low-educated respondents. Residences of Myanmar, Malaysia, and Vietnam tend to spend less than others. An individual respondent tend to spend more than group respondents. In terms of length of stay, older respondents had longer stays than younger respondents. ASEAN tourists (except those from Laos) tend to stay longer, and respondents who have a purpose related to honeymoon, study, and health check-up stayed longer than the others. Respondents who have a lifestyle of N-tertainers had a longer stay than those in nature fans, golden oldies, fun lovers, greeners, tradition entertainers, value lovers, and others. By comparison with choice of airline, respondents who travel with low-cost airlines stay longer than those with full-service airlines. High-family income respondents stay longer than low-family income respondents. On the other hand, females had a shorter duration of stay than males. Lengths of stay of highly educated respondents are shorter than those of lower-educated respondents. Respondents who describe their trip as budget and regular trip had a shorter duration of stay than the others. Respondents who have a lifestyle of fun lovers had a shorter stay than those in nature fans, golden oldies, N-tertainers, greeners, tradition entertainers, value lovers, and others
