Effects of organizing learning activities using 5Es instructional model and open-ended problem on Mathematical reasoning ability and learning achievement of Mathayomsuksa 4 students
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were; 1) to compare mathematical reasoning ability of students after using 5Es instructional model with open-ended problem with a 70 percent criterion, and 2) to compare mathematical learning achievement of students after using 5Es instructional model with open-ended problem with a 70 percent criterion. The sample group was 48 mathayomsuksa 4 students of the 2016 academic year who were selected by a cluster random sampling technique. The instruments of this research consisted of eight lesson plans, a mathematical reasoning ability test with the reliability of .84, and a mathematical learning achievement test with the reliability of .80. The statistics for analyzing the data were means, standard deviation and t-test for one sample.
The research results were that mathematical reasoning ability of the sample group after using the 5Es instructional model with open-ended problem was higher than the 70 percent criterion at .05 level of significance, and the mathematical learning achievement of the student after using with the 5Es instructional model with open-ended problem was higher than the 70 percent criterion at .05 level of significance.
