Abstract:
This research aims to study the Creation and Message Design in TEDxBangkok. The data were collected by using documentary research and in-depth interview from Piriya Kulganchanacheewin, Co-organizer and curator of TEDxBangkok. The finding showed that the creation of TEDxBangkok consists of two main parts, which is the creation of production and the creation of content. Firstly, the creation of production contains 1.) Crew recruitment 2.) Production Management. Secondly, the creation of content contains 1.) Theme creation 2.) Speaker selection 3.) Content design. The roles and responsibilities of production team is to manage the event from the start to finish, including to communicate with attendees and create the communication areas for attendees through activities. The content creation shows the process of creating the content to communicate the ideas within 12-15 minutes. To make the idea worth spreading, the curators of TEDxBangkok spent almost 6 months to crystalize the ideas. In term of content and its design, most of TEDxBangkoks contents are to make or foster community and to teach or persuade, which matched the core idea of TEDxBangkok, spreading ideas to drive the society forward. For the design of content, core idea of the story is clarified. Other side events are brought up to support the core idea and to make the audience understand more what speakers want to convey, which may evoke the change in society in the future This research shows that TEDxBangkok are created systematically with creative ideas and meticulous processes. In order to final the content for each speech, it takes 6 months to digest and refine the best ideas that suitable to be on stage and also matches TEDs slogan, idea worth spreading.
