Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to develop and to explore the effectiveness of an instructional model by using design thinking theory approach to create Thai products identity of undergraduate students. The research consisted of three phases as follows: 1) To study the opinions of instructors and designers. 2) To develop an instructional model. 3) To study the effectiveness of the model with a sample group. The samples were 36 undergraduate students 2nd years studied in product design class. Research tools consisted of 3 weeks lesson plan, mind mapping, metric analysis of Thai identity, scoring rubrics and questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using means, standard deviation, and paired sample t-test. The research results as follow: 1. The instructional model using design thinking to create Thai products identity for undergraduate students has three principles: (1) Creating an experience of Thai identity, (2) Thai significant forms analysis (3) Synthetic and design Thai identity products. Instructional model consisted of seven components: 1) the design problem solving 2) contents of Thai identity 3) the instructors 4) the learners 5) the instructional medias 6) the collaborative activities and 7) the evaluations. 2. The student scores of the posttest had significant higher than the pretest scores at a level of .05. It was clearly show that the instructional model was effective. The research suggestion was the further study of aesthetic in Thai identity product design.
