Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to predict the students leadership ability from their scores on standardized leadership scale and with a sociometric technique. The subjects were one hundred and sixty students drawn from The Ayudhaya Commercial School. They were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of one hundred students: seventy-five of them were presidents, vice-presidents or committee members of the student organization. The rest were non-leaders. The second group was comprised of sixty students, twenty of whom were leaders. The leadership score was given to each leader according to the number of years he had been in a position of leadership. An adapted Thai Version of Cassel and Stanicks Leadership Ability Evaluation (LAE, 1961) was given to both groups, and in addition, the sociometric technique was employed for the second group. The collected data was analyzed by means of Pearsons Product Moment Correlation Coefficient in order to find the intercorrelations between the students leadership scores and their scores on the LAE, as The major results were as follows: 1. The students leadership scores and their scores on LAE were not significantly correlated. 2. The students leadership scores were significantly correlated with their scores on the sociometric test. 3. There was no statistically significant correlation between the students scores on LAE and those on the sociometric test.
