Abstract:
The wellbeing of the elderly with diabetes mellitus have effect to self care and quality of life. The objectivesof this predictive correlational research were to study the wellbeing of the elderly with diabetes mellitus and the factors predicting psychological well-being of the elderly with diabetes mellitus who have receiving care at a Health Promoting Hospital. The total amount 100 elderly with diabetes mellitus, sample group collect by simple random sampling without replacement, from July to August 2016. Research instrument separates in 6 parts including personal information, well-being of elderly, access health service, self-esteem, loneliness and social support. The analysis of data was used descriptive statistic, Pearson correlation and multiple regressions. From the study found that the elderly with diabetes mellitus have average well-being at 56.74 (SD = 9.17). From the multiple regression found that social support, access health services and self-esteem can predict factors that influence well-being 74.5 percent (R2 = .745, F = 93.546, p< .001). The most influence factor was social support for well-being of the elderly with diabetes mellitus (β =.342, p < .001). The prediction standard equation was Z well -being= .342 (Z social support) + .335 (Z access health services)+ .302 (Z self - esteem) The research result suggest that health professional should give importance and conscious in psychological well-being of elderly with diabetes mellitus by enhancing social support, access health service and self-esteem among elderly with diabetes mellitus.
