Comparative analysis of factors influencing attitudinal loyalty intention of senior american and australian tourists on a long trip in Thailand
Abstract:
This research focused on a long trip taken by senior tourists who have a lot of free time to do anything and who have high income and savings. The objective of this research is to compare travel behavior between senior American and Australian tourists. Moreover, this research also investigated the factors influencing the attitudinal loyalty intention of senior American and Australian tourists in Thailand. This research employed exploratory sequential mixed methods. The first phase is to collect and analyze the qualitative data. This method consisted of in-depth interviews of 23 participants, and found that tourist emotions, destination image, food & beverage, accommodations, and transportation influenced their making decision and attitudinal loyalty intention. The second phase collected 559 questionnaires completed by 274 American and 285 Australian tourists. Then, this research tested to confirm the relationship of each factor in the model by using SEM. The results found that both senior American and Australian tourists have quite similar attitudes to travel in Thailand. Both the senior American and Australian tourist models are fit. The factors which influence attitudinal loyalty intention are composed of tourist emotions, destination image, food & beverage, accommodations, and transportation. Therefore, satisfaction is an important factor which promotes the senior American and Australian tourists to attitudinal loyalty intention. Therefore, the business owner should satisfy the tourists, which leads them to loyalty intention. This research also demonstrated the practical implication model to imply for business owner which make the senior American and Australian tourists be satisfied and lead to loyalty intention as well.
