Abstract:
The objectives of this research were 1) to study librarian's expectations toward the
competencies of cataloging librarians, 2) to study the competencies of Rajabhat University
cataloging librarians, 3) to compare expectations of Rajabhat University cataloging librarians in
various positions, educations, and working experiences, 4) to compare opinions of Rajabhat
University cataloging librarians in various positions, educations, and working experiences, and 5)
to compare differences between expectations and opinions toward competencies of Rajabhat
universities cataloging librarians. The sample size were overall 159, they were 38 administrators,
35 heads of cataloging librarians, and 86 cataloging librarians. Questionnaires were tools of
collecting data. Data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation and data were
analyzed by using f-test and t-test. The results of this research show that the expectations of staffs
toward the cataloging librarians competencies were in highest level librarian qualifications. The
expectations of administrative in cataloging librarians competencies were knowledge in highest
level. The other staffs opinions toward cataloging librarians were in high level in all aspects
except administrative who had highest level opinion in qualifications. The expectations of staffs
who had different positions and educational level were differently to cataloging librarians, while
the opinions of different working experiences librarians were not different. The staffs had an
expectations and opinions on the competencies of cataloging librarians differently in overall.
However, the expectations were higher than opinions in average.
