Public participation in village development based on the philosophy of sufficiency economy at bantok pok-talung, village number 6, wang sappharot sub-district, amphoe khlung, chanthaburi province
Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine a level of public participation in village development based on the Philosophy of Economy Sufficiency at Bantok Pok-Talung, Wang Sappharot Sub-district, Amphoe Khlung, Chanthaburi Province and to compare the level of public participation as classified by gender, age, educational level, marital status, occupation, amount of monthly income, and length of residency. The data were collected from 57 house representatives, living in the village named Bantok Pok-Talung, village number 6, Wang Sappharot Sub-district, Amphoe Khlung, Chanthaburi Province. These subjects were recruited based on Yamanes formula (1973) by a simple random technique. The instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire. The statistical tests used to analyze the collected data included frequency, percentage, means, and standard deviation. To test the research hypotheses, the tests of t-test and One-way ANOVA were administered. Also, LSD was used to compare the differences between pairs. The results of this study revealed that the subjects expressed a high level of participation in village development based on the Philosophy of Economy Sufficiency at Bantok Pok-Talung, village number 6, Wang Sappharot Sub-district, Amphoe Khlung, Chanthaburi Province. When considering each aspect of participation, the one in relation to being co-beneficial receivers was rated the highest, followed by the aspects relating to practice, decision-making, and evaluation, respectively. All of these aspects were rated at a high level of participation, except for that of evaluation which was rated at a moderate level. Finally, based on the results from the test of hypotheses, it was shown that there were statistically significant differences in the level of participation in village development based on the Philosophy of Economy Sufficiency at Bantok Pok-Talung among the subjects with different occupation and length of residency at a significant level of .05.
