Abstract:
The purpose of this study was twofold. First, it aimed at examining public opinions towards work roles and responsibilities among village headmen in Amphoe Ta Phraya, Sa Kaeo Province. Also, this study attempted to compare the level of opinions towards work roles and responsibilities among village headmen as classified by gender, age, educational level, occupation, and amount of income. The subjects participating in this study were 389 representatives of households living in Amphoe Ta Phraya, Sa Kaeo Province. The instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire. The statistical tests used to analyze the collected data included percentage, means, standard deviation, t-test, and One-way ANOVA. To test the differences between pairs, the test of Scheffe was administered. The results of this study revealed that the subjects agreed with the work roles and responsibilities of village headmen in Amphoe Ta Phraya at a high level. Specifically, the aspect of roles and responsibilities in relating to administration was rated at the highest level, followed by the aspects relating to maintaining social orders in the communities, and conserving natural resources, respectively. In addition, based on the comparisons of public opinions towards work roles and responsibilities among village headmen, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference among the subjects with different gender. Finally, statistically significant differences were found in the level of opinions towards work roles and responsibilities among the subjects with different age, educational level, occupation, and amount of monthly income at a significant level of .01.
