Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine the level of quality of life among the elderly living in Sampeenong Sub-district administrative Organization, Amphoe Kaenghangmao, Chanthaburi Province and to compare their level of quality of life as classified by gender, age, status, educational level, occupation, and amount of income. The instrument used to collect the data was the World Health Organization of Life (WHOQOL) in Thai abbreviated version by SuwatMahatnirunkul and others (1997). This instrument was translated from English into Thai from the World Health Organization of Life (WHOQOL, 1995) with the reliability of 0.95. The statistical tests used to analyze the collected data included frequency, percentage, means. Also, t-test was operated to test the hypotheses, and one-way ANOVA was used to test the variance. The results of the study revealed that the respondents were more female than male (55.60%), aged 60-69 (86.40%), having an income of 3,000-5,000 baht (53.20%) and an income of 5,001-10,000 baht. (26.40%). Also, it was shown that the level of quality of life among the elderly living in Sampeenong Sub-district administrative Organization was found at a good level. When considering each domain, the domain in relation to environment was rated the highest, followed by physical health, and psychological health, respectively. Also, the domain relating to social relationships was rated at a moderate level. Finally, based on the results from the comparison, it was shown that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of quality of life among the subjects with different gender, age, status, educational level, occupation, and amount of income.
