The study of aspects towards green campus of technical vocational education and training school in Lao PDR
Abstract:
The purposes of this study are: 1) to analyze the aspects of green campus; 2) to
assess the propriety and feasibility of the aspects of green campus for application in
TVET schools in Lao PDR; and 3) to study the current operations of TVET schools
towards green campus in Lao PDR. This study focused on TVET schools in Vientiane,
which divided into 3 groups according school size; Pakpasak Technical College, Lao-
German Technical College, and Dongkhamxang Agriculture Technical College. The
target groups were divided into 2 groups; 1)18 assessors for assessment the propriety
and feasibility of the aspects; and 2) 12 evaluators for evaluate current operations of 3
TVET schools. The instruments used in this study were assessment form and
guidebook. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics; Percentage, Mean
and Standard Deviation. The results are as follows:
1. Thirteen aspects of green campus were found in terms of review literature
from 11 universities and 2 educational organizations as follows: 1) energy management,
2) water management, 3) waste management, 4) campus recycling, 5) transportation,
6) campus setting and infrastructure, 7) air and climate, 8) land usage, 9) landscape
management, 10) green building, 11) purchasing, 12) safe and healthy environment,
and 13) food and dining service.
2. The findings indicated that 10 aspects which could passed set criterion, are
appropriate and feasible for application in TVET schools in Lao PDR, namely 1)
energy management, 3) water management, 3) waste management, 4) campus recycling,
5) transportation, 6) campus setting and infrastructure, 7) land usage, 8) landscape
management, 9) safe and healthy environment, and 10) food and dining service.
3. Three TVET schools have conducted their current school activities that are in
accordance with the activities of 9 aspects through PDCA work operations in P step,
P-D step and P-D-C step only. Furthermore, the findings indicated that none of 3
TVET schools has conducted activities in the aspect of Safe and Healthy Environment.
