Model of supervision monitoring and evaluation capabilities in research to develop teaching and learning

Abstract: This research was conducted based on the objectives which were (1) to develop the model of supervision, monitoring, and evaluating research capabilities for developing instruction of student teachers and (2) to explore the utilization results of the model of supervising, monitoring, and evaluating research capabilities for developing instruction of student teachers. The research operation was divided into two phases. Phase 1 dealt with the development of the model based on the data about conditions, problems, needs, and the synthesis results of concepts and theories. It was qualitatively examined by nine connoisseurs. The data were analyzed by identifying mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. Phase 2 dealt with exploring the utilization results of the model. The sample group consisted of nine general university supervisors, ten program university supervisors, and 40 mentor teachers who were willing to participate in the project. 40 student teachers voluntarily obtained from university supervisors and mentor teachers and 257 students who received learning management from the student teachers were also included. The research tools were three sets of the evaluation form on research capabilities for developing instruction and the evaluation form on opinions toward the model. The data were analyzed to identify frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The findings revealed that (1) the model of supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of research capabilities for developing instruction of student teachers consisted of three components which were Component 1: Directions in developing research capabilities, Component 2: Processes of research capability development, and Component 3: Evaluation of research capability development. The model possessed utility, feasibility, appropriateness, and accuracy at a high level and at the highest level. (2) The research capabilities for developing instruction of student teachers passed the qualitative criteria at a good level and at an excellent level. The research of the student teachers could develop the students as stated in the research objectives at an average of 94.48 percent. In terms of the opinions toward the model, the program university supervisors, the general university supervisors, and the mentor teachers regarded that in an overall picture the model possessed utility, feasibility, appropriateness, and accuracy at a high level.
