Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to study the status, problems and needs of the computer teachers in the provincial of secondary school under The Office of the Private Education Commission during 2000-2005. The methodology of this research will be based on questionnaire. The target group is 198 random sampling of secondary schools under The Office of the Private Education Commission in provincial. The target group is obtained through stratified random sampling technique. Percentages, mean, and standard deviation were analyzed based on the returned questionnaire of 83.56%. . From the analysis, a large percentage of computer teachers are mainly female between the age of 25-30 year, with Bachelors Degree and concentration in the computer area. Most of the teachers within this group have approximately 1-5 year teaching experience and does histher own research for additional computer knowledge. The teaching method employed by these teachers is mainly practical exercise with occasional teaching tools used, mainly computers. The demand for computer has been especially high in the year 2000. The research also found that most school board prefer kachers who are in the range of 25-30 year of age, possesses 1-3 year of teaching experience, no preference is made on the gender of the teachers. The minimum degree is Bachelors in Computer Education. Teachers fitting these criteria are in demand in the year 2000. The rating for each skill as required of each candidate is listed as following: teaching ?skilldhigh, general skills/highest, computer skillshigh, computer language, programming, and applicationhigh. The research points to the resources issue that the demand of computer teachers is greater than the available resources.
