Abstract:
The objective of this research is to develop a formulation of the facial cream emulsions from bees products, as well as to study the properties and performance of the developed bees products. The formulation contains the total amount of bees products up to 4.5%, as follows: beeswax 1%, honey 2%, bee pollen 1%, and royal jelly 0.5%. The efficacy tests are produced based on 10 volunteers. Products tested are formula 1 which is cream based, formula 2 which contains honey 2% and beeswax 1%, formula 3 which has bee pollen 1% and royal jelly 0.5%, and formula 4 which contains honey 2%, beeswax 1%, bee pollen 1%, royal jelly 0.5%. According to the sensory test, formula 2 and formula 3 are most satisfied by volunteers. Formula 2 soothes the skin based on honey and beeswax. The volunteers also like the odor of formula 3 and 4 which may due to the blossom fragrance from bee pollen and the uniqueness of royal jelly. The products test results in terms of moisturizing showed that all formulas can increase the skins moisture within 2 weeks. By adding beeswax and honey in the base formulation the moisture content of the skin is statistically significant increase 2.93 ± 1.30 (p ≤ 0.05). The products test results in terms of elasticity showed that all formulas can increase the skins elasticity within 2 weeks. By adding bee pollen and royal jelly in the base formulation the elasticity content of the skin is statistically significant increase 0.0679 ± 0.0410 (p ≤ 0.05). The products test results in terms of the pigment melanin showed that all formulas can decrease the skins pigment melanin within 2 weeks. By adding bee pollen, royal jelly or beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly in the base formulation the pigment melanin content of the skin is statistically significant decrease 5.40 ± 2.12 and 8.00 ± 4.69 (p ≤ 0.05). The result obtained is useful for utilization of bees product in other cosmetic products.
