Abstract:
The necessity and expediency of how to use powder for makeup from loose powder to pressed powder are essential these days. The development kinds of binders, either dry or liquid binder, to hold each particles of powders to stay strong enough in the powder case not easy to break but also easy to pick up the sufficient amount of powder needed. This research was aimed to study the binding efficacy of magnesium myristate and plastic powder, by comparing with magnesium stearate, under the same formula composition and then ran under the test of penetrometer, drop test, fly-away test, color test by spectrophotometer, tapped and bulk density and powder compressibility test, ability of flow by angle of repose, streaking test, pickup and transfer test and lastly the satisfactory test on human. From the study found out that the formula with the dosage of plastic powder had the highest efficacy and formula with dosage of magnesium myristate lied in second. Prepared formulas were evaluated for their bulk and tapped densities, compressibility index, angle of repose and hardness. Performance on used was evaluated by color streaking, pickup and transfer and flyaway. Sensory profile of selected products were evaluated in volunteers. The formula with plastic powder has the highest sensory profile of 4.10 ± 0.74, lowest angle of repose of 46.10 ± 0.38 degree. The results suggested that plastic powder has the highest binding efficacy.
