Abstract:
This research aimes to study the preparation of chitosan-added face powder and to test its efficiency against an oily face among the volunteer. Research methodology started with preparation of standard formula face powder with required properties and then added chitosan of various concentrations ranging from 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%. Physical properties of the face powder were evaluated in order to choose appropriate quantities of chitosan to be added to face powder for further testing on its efficiency against an oily face. It was found that chitosan-added face powder at 40% concentration appeared to be the most suitable formula. The sample group consisted of 20 volunteers. In particular; standard face powder was applied on the right side and chitosan-added face powder on the left of the face and then Sebumeter was applied to measure oil value at 30, 120 and 240 minutes. The test results on oil control efficiency among the volunteers with an oily face were compared between standard face powder and chitosan-added face powder and it appeared that chitosan-added face powder could render efficient oil control action with statistical significance of left applied chitosan-added forehead at 30 minute 29.50 ± 10.96 (p = 0.007) compare with right applied standard 39.50 ± 10.10, left check at 120 minute 49.50 ± 22.45
(p = 0.38) compare with right side 66.20 ± 26.48 and left chin at 240 minute 95.55 ± 52.72 (p = 0.048) compare with right side 132.15 ± 60.09 Therefore, it can be concluded that there has relation between chitosan-added face powder and face oil control.
