Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine work motivation among personnel working for Excise Offices in Trat provincial area and to compare their level of work motivation as classified by gender, age, educational level, amount of income, work experience, and marital status. The data were collected from 42 subjects working for Excise Office in Trat provincial area. The test of t-test was administered to compare the differences between independent variables with two groups. Also, the test of One-way ANOVA was used to compare the differences among variables with three groups onwards. The results of this study revealed that the level of work motivation among the subjects was found at a high level. When considering each aspect of work motivation, the one in relation to the relationship with supervisors was rated at the highest level, followed by work condition, supervision, relationship with co-workers, work achievement, physical work environment, interesting type of work, organizational policies and administration, personal living, acceptance, relationship with subordinators, job security, promotion, job advancement, and monthly salary, respectively. Based on the results from the comparison, it was shown that female personnel demonstrated a higher level of work motivation than their male counterparts. The subjects, aged 40-50, had a higher level of work motivation than those aged 50 onwards. Also, the subjects holding an educational degree higher than a bachelors degree demonstrated a higher level of work motivation than those holding a bachelors degree. The subjects, earning 20,001-30,000 baht had a higher level of work motivation than those earning 30,001-40,000 baht. Furthermore, the subjects having 7-10 years of work experience demonstrated a higher level of work motivation than those with 3-6 years of work experience. Finally, the subjects who were married had a higher level of work motivation than their counterparts who were single.
