Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study the usage pattern of motor vehicles andfuels and the factors influenced the usage of motor vehicles and fuels in Bangkok Metropo~litanand suburb area. Data were collected from 5,435 questionnaires answered by car users. Thefindings show that the usage pattern of motor vehicles are as follows:Saloon cars are spark ignition engines fueled with unleaded super petrol (56.2.3%).The piston displacement is 1,000 - 1,999 C.C. (81.83%). The drivers are the car owners (93.33%)and the occupations are the office workers (35.11%).The average fuel consumption is 11.73km./litre.Pickup truck are compression ignition engines with piston displacement of 2,000 -3,999 C.C. (89.92%). The drivers are the pickup trucks owners (82.26%) and work in comlpany(37.10%). The average fuel consumption is 12.09 km./litre.Vans are compression ignition engines with piston displacement of 2,000 - 3,999 C.C.(97.73%). The vans belong to company or office (35.07%). The drivers work as emplloyee(36.07%). The average fuel consumption is 12.81 km./litre.Taxis are spark ignition engines fueled with unleaded super petrol (47.24%). Thepiston displacement is l,OOO- 1,999 C.C. (100%). Most are rented car (73.02%). The drivers workas driving employee (92.10%). The average fuel consumption is 11.24 km./litre.Motortricycle taxis are spark ignition engines fueled with LPG (80.65%). The pistondisplacement is 300-599 C.C. (100%). Most are rented car (83.87%). The drivers work asdriving employee (100%). The average fuel consumption is 12.44 km./litre.Fixed route buses are compression ignition engines with the piston displacement of4,000~5,999 C.C. (88.64%). The fmed route buses belong to government office or privatesector. (90.91%) The drivers are government official or private sectors officers (90.91%). Theaverage fuel consumption is 7.25 km./litre.Non fared route buses are compression ignition engines with the piston displacementof 4,000 - 5,999c.c. (65.00%). The non fvted route buses belong to company and firms (100%).The driver occupations are the office workers (85.00%). The f average fuel consumption is 8.50km./litre.Private buses are compression ignition engines with the piston displacement of 2,000- 3,999 C.C. (66.67%). The private buses belong to company and firms (100%). The driveroccupations are the office workers (100%). The average fuel consumption is 9.40 km./litre:.Non fixed route trucks are compression ignition engines with the pistondisplacement of 6,000 C.C. or higher (51.39%). The non futed route trucks belong to companyand firms (98.63%). The driver occupations are the office workers (84.93%). The average fuelconsumption is 6.21 km./litre.Private trucks are compression ignition engines with the piston displacement of2,000 - 3,999 C.C. (78.39%). The private trucks belong to company and firms (90.00%). Thedriver occupations are the office workers (66.11%). The average fuel consumption is 7.54km./litre.Motorcycles are spark ignition engines fueled with unleaded super petrol (50.62%).The piton displacement is less than 150 C.C. (98.15%). The drivers are the car owners (96.91%)and the occupations are the office workers (46.90%). The average fuel consumption is 25.36km./litre.
