Abstract:
The purpose of this study was twofold. First, it aimed at examining organizational commitment of personnel working for Khlong HatSub-district Municipality. Also, it attempted to investigate the relationship between the personnels work motivation and their level of organizational commitment. The subjects participating in this study were 118 working staff at Khlong HatSub-district Municipality. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. The statistical tests used to analyze the collected data included frequency, percentage, standard deviation, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The results of the study revealed that the subjects level of organizational commitment was found at the highest level. When considering each aspect, the aspect in relation to willingness to dedicate personal benefits to the organization was rated the highest, followed by the aspects relating to maintaining membership of the organization, goal acceptance, administrative policies of the organization, respectively. In addition, the result was shown that the subjects overall level of work motivation was found at a high level. The subjects rated the aspect in relation to type of work at a high level, followed by the aspects relating to respect and acceptance, work achievement, work advancement, and responsibility, respectively. Also, the subjects rated supporting factors with high means. Specifically, the aspect relating to the relationship with colleagues was rated the highest, followed by work environment, supervision, relationship with supervisor, monthly income and compensation, and job security, respectively. Furthermore, a statistically significant relationship was found between the subjects work motivation and their level of organizational commitment at a high level. (r=.796) at a significant level of 0.01. When considering each factor, there was a high relationship between the subjects motivational factors and their level of organizational commitment (r=.764) at a significant level of 0.01. Finally, a high relationship was found between supporting factors at work and the subjects level of organizational commitment (r=.792) at a significant level of 0.01.
