Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to study the budget management in education;
the student qualities; and the relationship between the budget management in education
and the student qualities from the municipality schools in Surat Thani. The sample
included 168 respondents from school administrators and heads of four divisions: academic
affairs, personnel, budgeting, and general administration. The research instrument was
a questionnaire which yielded reliability coefficient of 0.956. Data were analyzed by
using mean, standard deviation, and Pearson productmoment correlation coefficient
The research findings showed that the overall budget management in education
was at a high level in descending order: budget management, accounting management,
budget planning, performance report, asset management, budget management and
budget control, internal auditing, and educational resource mobilization. The overall
student qualities were at a high level in descending order: work skills; good health and
aesthetics; morality, ethnic, and desirable values; searching skills, essential basic knowledge
and skills required by the curriculum; and systems thinking ability. In addition, the relationship
analysis between the budget management in education and the student quality of
municipality schools in Surat Thani showed a moderate positive correlation (r = .67)
at a statistical significance level of .01.
