Abstract:
This research was designed to study the factors of vocational awareness of the upper secondary school students in Bangkok metropolis. The samples used for this research consisted of 1,880 upper secondary - school students. An inventory of 88 items covered 8 area of vocational awareness: socio-economic, familial, environmental-community, education, ethnic, sex, physical-capacity and value, which was adapted from the Vocational Awareness Index of Lawrence E. Currie and the Work Value Inventory of Donald E. Super was used for data collection. The factor analysis by the image factoring method with the varimax rotation of axis was used for data analysis. The findings were as follow: The vocational awareness of the upper secondary school students consisted of five important factors: value, friends, familial, socio-economic and physical-capacity which accounted for 25.4 percents of total variance. When it was analysed separately according to class levels, it had been found that. 1. The vocational awareness of the Matayomsuksa four students consisted of four important factors which accounted for 18.5 percents of total variance. 2. The vocational awareness of the Matayomsuksa five students consisted of four important factors which accounted for 17.5 percents of total variance. 3. The vocational awareness of the Matayomsuksa six students consisted of five important factors which accounted for 21.7 percents of total variance.
