Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to develop the scales to measure altruism for Prathom Suksa Six Students. The three forms of scales are 1) the self-report: a rating scale of 32 behaviors which students were asked to review themselves about their altruism in the past, 2) the students behavioral assessment: a rating scale of 32 behaviors which teachers were asked to review the students about their altruism, 3) the limited situation: a multiple choice contains 32 descriptive realistic situations with four responses each. Students were asked to decide what they would probably do if they were in the situations then choose only one answer. Time to complete each scale is 45 minutes. 1,128 Prathom Suksa Six Students and 31 teachers in Sakolnakhorn Province were used as the subjects. The results 1. The self-report: the reliability index by Cronbach's alpha coefficient is .9036. The discrimination index for 31 items, tested by the t-test, range from 4.09-16.83 and all were statistically significant at the level of .01. The mean scores of item 25 is not statistically significant. The construct validity was found by factor analysis with principal component model and rotation with varimax model. 2. The students behavioral assessment : All items discriminated statistically significant between the high and low group mean scores, the t-value is 4.09-16.83, range. 3. The limited situation : the reliability index by Cronbach's alpha coefficient is .657. The discrimination index for each item, tested by the t-test, range from 2.26-13.13 and there are statistically significant at .01 level for all items. Except item 17. (p<.025)
