The achievement in using general science instructional radio progams for private Islamic school (Pondok) graduates and regular secondary school gradutes in matayom suksa four of the Prince of Songkla University Demonstration School
Abstract:
To compare the achievement of learning of the students in Matayom Suksa 4 of the Prince of Songkla University Demonstration School which were Private Islamic School (Pondok) graduates and Regular Secondary School graduates by using instructional radio programs and visual aids with conventional method. Constructed two instructional radio programs, Digestive System and Conservation of Soil, with achievement tests at .80 and .62 reliability respectively. Two groups of sample, each of 30, were students in Matayom Suksa 4 of the Prince of Songkla University Demonstration School which were the Private Islamic School (Pondok) graduates and Regular School graduates. Partialled each group into 2 small groups by equated group method. Using instructional radio programs for experimental groups and conventional method for controlled groups. Compared the achievement of each group by using t-test. The achievement of using instructional radio programs and conventional method to Regular Secondary School graduates had no significance at .05 level of significance and each was higher than the achievement of using the same method to the Private Islamic School (Pondok) graduates. The achievement of using instructional radio programs to the Private Islamic School (Pondok) graduates was higher than the achievement of using conventional method. General science instructional radio programs and visual aids are suitable teaching aid for Private Islamic School (Pondok) graduates which had specific education. However, for some contents and some levels, well preparing teacher and good strategy of conventional method may give the same achievement as using any other.
