A study of the implementation system of elementary school curriculum in the educational units under the jurisdiction of The Office of the Provincial Primary Education Nakhon Sawan Province
Abstract:
Research Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the implementation system of elementary school curriculum in the educational units under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Provincial Primary Education Nakhon Sawan Province. Research Procedure: The instruments used in the study composed of a set of interview schedule and four sets of questionnaire. The sample included 3 provincial administrators, 24 district administraters, 25 educational supervisors, 40 school administrators and 342 teachers. The data were analysed by using of frequency and percentage. Research Findings: The System of Curriculum Implementation at the Provincial Level. The Input- It was found that the educational administraters and the supervisors at the provincial level had been informed about the implementation of the Primary curriculum B.E. 2521. The Process- the administraters at the provincial level had performed the fol1owing functions: setting up the policy, informing the regulations, controlling and follow-up the curriculum implementation, the supporting, the budget to promote the research project and reviewing the reports on curriculum implementation. The supercisors had to administer the materials and evaluate the curriculum implementation. The Product- the meetings and seminars were the important products of the curriculum and curriculum implementation. The Product-the meetings and seminars were the important products of the curriculum and curriculum implementation at the provincial level, especially in the Academic Year 1984. The System of Curriculum Implementation at the District Level. The Input- the educational administrators and the supervisors at the district level had been informed about the implementation of the Primary Curriculum B.E. 2521. The Process- the administrators at the district level were responsible for controlling the quality of the curriculum implementation. The supervisors were responsible for managing the curriculum suplementary and training the school personnel. Also, the supervisor bad to plan and evaluate the curriculum implementation at the district level. The Product- the meetings and seminors on primary curriculum implementation were the major products, especially in the Academic Year 1984. The System of Curriculum Implementation at the School level. The Input- It was found that the school administrators and the teachers were informed of teaching-learning style and the process of measurement and evaluation suit to the curriculum. The Process- the school administrators facititate the teaching and learning while the teachers perform and evaluate their teaching. The relationship of the curriculum implementation systems at the provincial, the district, and the school levels could be summaried that the products of the curriculum implementation system at the provincial level were the inputs for the district level; and the products of the curriculum implementation system at the district level were the inputs for the school level. Further, some activities of the process of the provincial level had been done at the school level. The problems and obstacles of the system of the elementary curriculum implementation were the insufficient of the budget; the unequal of distribution of school personnel; the insufficient of supervision; less understanding of curriculum; the unchanging of teaching behavior of the teachers; and insufficient of textbooks and supplementary.
