Abstract:
Information is considered to be an important factor which supports the operation of all parts in the system. Information can support in execution, management, control and evaluation. The inventory information also plays a vital part to the main operation of Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) from its production to distribution and earning income. As a consequence, managing and controlling of inventory requires a close supervision in order to maximize the benefit. The key supporting factor for success is the inventory information which is good and appropriate. The organizations inventory data processing system has been developed from manually obtained data then proceed through computer by batch processing method. However, the respection data processing system has limitation of responses to organizational needs as a result of the processing has been delayed since data collection, transmission and processing which are limited by time and method. Consequently, the inventory data can not be fully utilized, moreover, it requires to work along with manually collected data which has limited capacity. Therefore, it is most necessary to develop data processing in short time. This results is providing more benefit to operation. But the cost of the new system is necessary to be considered. The cost-benefit analysis is essential in making the remaining with the old one. However, this can not be done to pinpoint the associated dollar-value due to many reasons such as the equipments, manpower and time overlapped with other system of the organization. Developments are important to suit the structure, operation, internal and external environment of the organization. Readiness and promptness to solve problems will help relieving burdens or obstacles that might happen. This will also be a fundamental to develop a complete data system for the organization in the future.
