Abstract:
The research aimed to study the performance according to the teaching professional standard; to compare the opinions on the same as classified by sex, educational qualifications, working experience and school size; and to explore the conditions supportive of the performance according to the teaching professional standard. The samples were 345 teachers who worked at the secondary schools under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Secondary Educational Service Area 29. They were derived by a stratified random sampling. The research instrument was a five-rating scale questionnaire of a confidence value equivalent to .95. Statistics used were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one way ANOVA, and Scheffes paired test.
The research findings were as follows.
1. The performance according to the teaching professional standard of the teachers under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Secondary Educational Service Area 29 was overall at a high level. Individual aspects can be arranged in a descending order : learners quality development, academic activities, teaching development, and creative cooperation.
2. With the performance of the teachers in the study compared, it was found that the teachers who were different in sex, working experience and worked in different sized schools held a different opinion on the performance according to the teaching professional standard at a statistical significance of .05. The teachers who had different educational levels had no different opinions.
