Knowledge, attitude, behavior toward safety and related factors of workers in production department of steel furniture industrial factory in Samut Prakan Province
Abstract:
The purpose of this descriptive study were to study knowledge, attitude, behavior toward safety and related factors. Three hundred workers in production department of a large steel furniture factory participated in this study by a Multi-stage sampling. They completed the questionnaires that consisted of various dimensions such as sociodemographic, safety knowledge, safety attitude and safety behavior. Statistical methods used in the analysis included Arithmetic Mean, Percent, t-test, ANOVA, Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis, and Pearsons Correlation Coefficient. Research results were as follows: 1. The workers in production department had a high level of safety knowledge (72%). The statistical predictors of knowledge in safety were education the high educated workers had higher safety knowledge, and good relationship with co-workers had higher level of safety knowledge at significant P<0.01. 2. The subjects had a moderate level of good attitude in safety (63.7%). The statistical predictors of attitude in safety were income, the subjects who had high income had good attitude in safety, and good relationship with co-workers had a good attitude in safety at significant P<0.01 3. The subjects had a moderate level of safety behavior (49%). The statistical predictors of behavior in safety were age, the aged had better behavior, and good relationship with co-workers had a good behavior at significant P<0.01. Furthermore, knowledge in safety had a positive correlation with safety attitude (r=.329). And attitude in safety had a positive way correlated with safety behavior (r=.242). However, the research did not found any correlation between knowledge and behavior.
