Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to survey the state and needs of learning and teaching product design curriculum program in product design faculty of decorative arts Silpakorn University. Affairs in the areas of curriculum, subject matter, teaching method, media, measurement and evaluation, teachers and students. The populations of this research were 8 instructors, 50 students and 15 graduates from department of product design faculty of Decorative arts Silpakorn University. A questionnaire consisting a set of questionnaire and interview form. The data was analyzed by percentage, rating scale means and standard deviation. The results of this research revealed that. 1. Curriculum: state is at high level, needs are at high level. Such as needs of interdisciplinary curriculum ([x-bar] = 4.88), the curriculum cover product design process. ([x-bar] =4.76). 2. Subject matter: state is at high level, needs are at high level. Such as have a research method in thesis ([x-bar] =4.88), student can apply the subject matter with product design process. ([x-bar] =4.87). 3. Teaching method: state and needs are at high level. Such as the instruction management support skill and attitude ([x-bar] =5.00), take students to fieldtrip for upgrade the knowledge of product design process. ([x-bar] =4.60) 4. Media: state is at moderated level, needs are at high level. Such as needs of product design text books ([x-bar] =4.93), preparedness of materials and machines for workshop. ([x-bar] =4.82) 5. Measurement and evaluation: state is at moderated level, needs are at high level. Such as measurement and evaluation match the course objectives ([x-bar] =4.75), instructor should inform the results of evaluation and measurement to student. ([x-bar] =4.52). 6. Teachers: state is at moderated level, needs are at high level. Such as instructor should be expert in the responsibility subject ([x-bar] =4.75), instructors always on upgrade. ([x-bar] =4.75). 7. Students: state is at moderated level, needs are at high level. Such as receive the necessity attitude for being product designer ([x-bar] =4.75), the necessity of knowledge and principle in product design process. ([x-bar] =4.67)
