Abstract:
To study the effects of teaching drawing and painting by using the six thinking hats technique on prathom suksa five students art education learning achievement which included three aspects : cognitive, psychomotor skill and drawing and painting productions. The sample group were 40 prathom suksa five students at Khonkaen Elementary Demonstration School Khonkaen University in the second semester of academic year 2001. The research instruments were 1) drawing and painting by using the six thinking hats technique lesson plans, 2) achievement tests, 3) students behavior observation form, 4) drawing and painting production evaluation form, 5) student self report and 6) a set of questionnaires concerning students opinions upon teaching drawing and painting by using the six thinking hats technique. The obtained data were analyzed by using means, standard deviations, percentages, frequencies and t-test. The research results were revealed 1) The cognitive learning achievement of students after learning drawing and painting by using the six thinking hats technique were higher at the .05 level of significance. 2) The psychomotor skill of students met the behavior determined standard at 70%. 3) The means scores of drawing and painting production of students after learning drawing and painting by using the six thinking hats technique were higher. Furthermore, from self report and opinions towards teaching and learning art by using the six thinking hats technique, the results were as follows : the teaching and learning art by using the six thinking hats technique enhanced thinking ability, yielded clarity and ease of content learning. In addition, the students revealed that it was useful and could be applied to everyday life, it made the lessons enjoyable and it helped the students to accept other people's opinions and to gain their self-esteem.
