Abstract:
To compare knowledge, attitude and skill for narcotic prevention among prathom suksa 6 students in Naknon Sawan province. The study also compared the level of knowledge, attitude and skill for narcotic prevention before and after introducing the participatory learning approach as well as after the training. The samples were randomly collected from 51 students at Watnivetwuttaram Shool. The samples were randomly divided into two groups, 26 in the experimental group and 25 in the controled group. In the experimental group, the instruments were handbooks for life skills used in participatory learning of the training program for narcotic prevention. In the controled group, recreational activities for self-development were used. Student's level of knowledge, attitudes and skills for narcotic prevention were tested by using the pretest and posttest. The data were processed and analyzed by using the SPSS program. It was found that for the experimental group, the posttest scores were significantly higher than the pretest scores (p<.01). However, for the control group, the scores from the pretest and posttest were not statistically significant. When the scores of the experimental and control groups were compared, it was found that the mean scores of knowledge, attitude and skill for narcotic prevention were significantly difference (p<.05) after the program. This study is, therefore, indicates that the participatory learning approach by life skills training program has positive effects on knowledge, attitude and skill of students rather than the recreative activity for self-development.
