Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to find out whether the border trade between Thailand and Cambodia has any affects on the national security and whether the border-trade policy benefits the majority of Thai people along the border. It is discovered that on the one hand the opening of the border trade lessens the role of black marketers, facilitates official regulation and crime suppression, and generates more income. On the other hand the policy itself, the abuses of authority by some government officials, and the activities of merchants and people pose many negative impacts on the national security.
