The local wisdom on the transmission of wickwork folk handicraft in Bannongpathong, Amphoe Phanomsarakham, Changwat Chachoengsao : a historical analysis
Abstract:
The purpose of the research was to study about the background of Wickwork of Folk Handicraft : in terms of oringin, existence and local wisdom on the transmission. The research focused on the Bannongpathong, Amphoe Phanomsarakham, Changwat Chachoengsao using the interview : Oral History, documentary and survey research by using Questionaire, Observation and Interview Technique. The result revealed that the Wickwork of Folk Handicraft of Bannongpathong, Amphoe Phanomsarakham, Changwat Chachoengsao originated from Phuan people in Vientiane who came to down at Bannongpathong in the Reign of King III. They used this knowledge for earning their livings and the materials used were from natural resources. The source of the handicraft might come from three motives, the need in leading their lived, the geographical environments, the cultural and religious beliefs. Beacuse of these reasons, the wickwork still exists at presenty. In order to transmit wickwork handicraft knowledge from generation to generation, the process should consist of : 1. Knowledge Resources from families, schools and government services as Chachoengsao External Education Center, Community Developing Department, Agricultural District. 2. Instructors and practitioners as families, neighbors and external human resources junctioning as instructors and learners. 3. Transmission method should be : 3.1 Observing from their ancestors. The practitioner would notice, experiment, listen practice and do the exercises. 3.2 Self-Practicing. The practitioner would observe the way how to do it until they could do it by themselves. No one taught them and sometimes they just immitated. 3.3 Learning from the neighbors. The learners would bring their own materials and use a real practicing method. 3.4 Leacturing from the officials. The Lecturers would bring the learners to study outside the villages and give lectures, the learners would practice doing at the same time.
