Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to research and develop the product of peeling nail coat with comparing to the commercial prototypes from other countries. It may reduce the import of peeling nail coat from foreign countries. Peeling nail coat formulas was developed by the using different film former and their characteristics (film quality), stability, efficacy and consumer satisfaction were investigated. The results showed that 13 formulas of peeling nail coat were developed and formulated by various amount and type of film former (PVP, PVP-K90 and PVP/PV E375). It was found that PVP gave a great film formation, while PVP-K90 could increase adhesive of film surface as well as PVP/PV E 375 gave shiny film. However, PVP/PV E375 had unpleasant chemical smell that did not suitable as film former in product. As a result, formula 12 was the best formula that contains 7% PVP, 2.5% PVP-K90 as film former that its appearance of the film was flexible and provided good adhesion, like prototype (IT'S DEMO Peeling Nail Coat). Moreover, the duration of film formation of formula 12 was 4 minutes after applied on nail. Although, physical properties of formula 12 (pH, color and film characteristic) were similar to the prototypes, the viscosity of formula 12 was higher than mater product. Furthermore, formula 12 had stability using freeze-thaw cycle and centrifuge test and also did not contaminate with microorganism using Mikrocount Combi® kit test. For the adhesive performance of products, both formula 12 and master product could able adhere on nail at least for 3 days without nail damage. The result of consumers satisfaction test was 4.03 ± 0.76. The results suggested that the formula 12 may use as peeling nail coat prototypes for apply in cosmetic industry.
