Future scenarios of professional preparation in health education, physical education, sports, and recreation of Thai higher education institutions between B.E. 2554 and B.E. 2563
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study the future scenarios of the professional preparation in Health Education, Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation of Thai Higher Education Institutions between B.E. 2554 and B.E. 2563. The EDFR (Ethnographic Delphi Futures Research) was implemented to find the desirable and probable trends of the professional preparation in the professional fields. The research was conducted in three steps following the EDFR procedures. In the first step, an in-depth interview was utilized to gather opinions regarding the desirable and probable future scenarios from 11 experts. The information was analyzed and used to construct questionnaires comprising of 111 trend items categorized into 14 sub-scenarios, namely; 1) social context and demands, 2) vision and aim, 3) institute, 4) student, 5) instructor, 6) curriculum and curriculum administration, 7) learning management and assessment , 8) quality control, 9) research , 10) promotion of arts, culture, and environment, 11) academic and social services, 12) collaboration and networking, 13) curriculum and educational management assessment, and 14) product and outcome. The instrument was administered to another group of 18 experts. The data were analyzed in terms of median, mode, interquartile range, and difference between mode and median. It was found that 70 most probable and 36 more probable and desirable trend items in the professional preparation in Health Education, Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation of Thai higher education institutions, achieved a consensus among the experts, could be realized between B.E. 2554 and B.E. 2563. In the final step, a Focus group of 12 experts was conducted to discuss on the findings and additional suggestions. It was suggested that the future scenarios and related trend items could be used as pertinent information in a strategic planning of the professional preparation in the fields under the study.
