Abstract:
Lean approach has been applied for organizational improvement over the years. But the results from improvement are not always expected. One factor that important and have much impact on improvement and lean approach ignores or doesn't focus on, is participation of employee but TQM approach has done. Employee involvement for improving organization is concept of TQM. However road map to implement Lean is more obviously and Lean's implementing timeframe is shorter. Therefore, researcher has an opinion that combination between Lean's strength, obvious roadmap and employee involvement from TQM's concept will increase effective organizational improvement in shorter timeframe. According to the result of case study, The cycle time in five stations were reduced by Lean approach for 44.16 man-hour/month or from 289.20 to 245.04 hour or 15.27% while Lean-TQM approach can reduce 72.72 man-hour/month or from 289.20 to 216.48 hour or 25.15%. So the incremental improvement from TQM's concept was shown and that is 11.66%. Finally, the conclusion of this research is the participation of employee can increase efficiency of improvement, reducing cycle time 25.15% for only 9 months of implement time. That is worth for implementation in condition of skill labor manufacturing moreover it also educate a culture of organization to achieve sustainable development.
