Abstract:
The objective of this research is to understand the figurative symbols, transfer
meaning and interpretation of the figurative symbols for nonalcoholic drinking teaching in
Spiritual Theatre Mural Painting at Suanmokkhaphalaram Suratthani Province.The
theoretical frameworks are based on the concept of mural painting,comics concept
approach, semiology approach, and Jakobsons communication model. This qualitative
research method is textual analysis the painting series "KhunKhongSura," which is about
reminding the king ThammikaratSaptaMitte who is going to taste alcohol and the painting
ones "YaiHua Due" which is teaching for nonalcoholic drinking.
The results of study found as follows:
(1) The myth of the painting is associated with the doctrine of the divine and
sacred symbol in Hinduism, through the transformation of the deity as Brahman. (2) The
main binary opposition that is the man, who is making merit or has sam-maa-tít-tì and
the man who is a sinner or has mit-cha -tít-tì through the figurative symbols for alcoholic
drinking (3) Languages as inscription on painting play a role in directing the definition of
the visual language. (4)The symbolic of paintings, which have an important role in story
telling by using the zigzag line in order to show the segmentation of the figurative and
separate it from others and the halo is the stmbolof gods and kings. (5) Body language
of the gods and the king are the dramatic look and the layman is a style of natural
gestures, and closed real life. (6) The body that is a sinner or has mit-cha -tít-tì what is
reflect through old age, disability and decline of the body. (7) The skin color of the gods
and kings which is emphasize white so as to show a good value. The one of the drunk
man is emphasize dark tone so as to show bad value and insensate.
