Abstract:
This research aims were 1. studied the current conditions, directions and trends of educational management in sport area in Thailand and foreign countries. 2. studied the feasibility of establishing sport university in Thailand 3. developed the prototype and strategies of sport university in Thailand. The process of the study comprised 3 steps. The population included the senior administrators of sport and higher education organization, and the university staffs in the area of sport, sport science, sport management and physical education from public and private universities. The prototype and strategies of sport university in Thailand was verified by the connoisseurship. The tools for the research included content analysis, interview, and questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed through content analysis, frequency distribution, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Results were as follows: 1. the current conditions of Sport University: some Sport Universities developed from Physical Education College, some newly established and most are Faculty level, especially in Thailand. Universitys mission are: teaching, research academic services and art and culture preservation. There are undergraduate and graduate program specialized in sports, sports science; and most university instructors are qualified Bachelor and Master degree; equipment and technology are supported teaching, research and academic services. Students who attended at least can perform sports or were athletes. Establishing trend was less than 5 years from this year. 2. Establishing feasibility : It is very likely possible to establish sport university in Thailand under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Location of the university is located outside the city, building and landscape architecture in the form of sports. The goal is to be the special university and to , produce athletes and sports personnel quality. Lead the sport of Thailand to sport excellence and international level. Successfully compete in a World or Olympic Games. Meet the needs of the labor market, particularly in sports, health and rehabilitation. 3. The components of the prototype of sport university consist of rationale, philosophy, vision, mission, goals, university administration structure, curriculum and Instruction, research and academic services, art and culture preservation, financial management, undergraduate and graduate students, human resources, and landscape architecture. The strategies of the sport university in Thailand were: 1) developing the potential of professional athletes and sport personnel in academic and sports to professionalism, 2) developing core competencies of professional athletes and sport personals on the basis of merit, 3) to be Sport Hub of ASEAN, 4) creating a mechanism for developing of professional athletes and sport personnel in order to the mobility of thought, 5) Strengthening of collaboration with universities in sports both domestics and abroad 6) developing sports for professional, 7) creating researchers network in research and development of sports innovation, 8) creating a cooperation network between the university and the communities to improve health and well-being, 9) Creating sport culture, 10) providing a Thai traditional sport programs, 11) establishing sports science and technology information centers, and 12) strengthening the management system.
