Abstract:
This research purpose was to study the development of virtue and ethics for students from Wat Aranyakhamwari school, Kiansa district, Suratthani province by using leading activities. Students, were needed to know, understand, and develop the four aspects of virtue and ethics namely: honesty; responsibility, discipline, and saving by using the training strategy. This study was an action research consisting of 2 cycles of operation. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. There were 4 research participants namely: one researcher; one teacher from Matayomsuksa 1, 2 and 3. The target group was 48 students from Matayomsuksa1-3 of Wat Aranyakhamwari School. The instrumants used to collect the data were interview, observation, record form, and behavior evaluation. The result was presented in descriptive format.
The result was found that there were 3 activities of training namely: 1) Psychological development camp ; this activity helped training the students in how to practice 5 percepts in Buddhism, meditation, how to apply Dharma in everyday life leading to determination in developing oneself 2) Bringing the students to make merit on Buddhism holy days in order to teach the students how to behave oneself in the temple 3) Friday training to build up their virtue and ethics for being good citizen with discipline, responsibility and honesty. It revealed that the students gained knowledge, had a good understanding, had virtue and ethics in 4 aspects of disciplin, responsibility, honesty, and saving The students also paid attention to the speakers, and participated thronghout the training. To promote the development of discipline, virtue and ethics, three activities were carried out 1) taking the training activities to normal classes 2) doing activities to install virtue and ethics directly such as teaching during the daily meeting before class 3) doing activities both inside and outside the school of life living by setting activities inside the school or community environment. It was found that the target group gained knowledge,had a good understanding, and had virtue and ethics in discipline, responsibility, honesty and saving It showed that the objective of using strategic training in developing virtue and ethics was achieved in the first cycle while promotion in giving suggestions to help in self correcting and self developing virtue and ethics on discipline, responsibility, honesty and saving in the second cycle helped increase the efficiency of the effort.
