Factors affecting the performance of the Board Committee of the preschool centers under the Supervision of the sub-district administrative organizations (SAO) in Krabi province
Abstract:
The objectives of the research were to study the level of performance of the board members of the Preschool Centers, to study the factors affecting their performances, and to identify problems and propose suggestions to improve the performance of the board members of the Preschool Centers. The sample group consisted of 174 members of the board from 50 preschools in Krabi. Questionnaires with a level of reliability of 0.96 were used to collect the data. The statistics employed to analyse the collected data included frequency, means, S.D., and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The results of the study revealed that:
The level of the performance of the members of the Board of the Preschool Centers was found to be high. The area of performance which was found to be the highest was collaboration with the students parent, and community, followed by center implementation. The areas of performance which were found to be moderate included budget, quality development, students development, personnel administration, and center establishment.
In terms of the factors affecting the members performance, it was found that the members interest in the public goal and information perception were related to the members performance at the level of 0.01. These factors could predict the effective performance of the board (45%). However, the members personal information, being trustful, and the relationship with involved people could not predict the effective performance of the members.
Problems occurring in the Centers were that the Sub- District Administrative Organizations in Krabi did not support the members in doing their jobs and provided insufficient information about the preschools. Therefore, the members could not effectively contribute to the Preschool Centers. The members of the Preschool board lacked connections with other Preschool networks, leading to limited use of shared resources. Suggestions were that the Sub- District Administrative Organizations in Krabi should provide opportunities for the board members to perform their roles more effectively. The Krabi SAO should also provide training about the preschools for all members and share the information about the centers. The members should also be encouraged to form their network with public and private organizations. The Krabi SAO should realize the roles of the board members regarding fostering relations with parents and community to bring in local resources to the Centers, especially the local wisdom.
