A Comparative study of facial laser acupuncture and laser conventional technique for facial rejuvenation by long pulse ND YAG 1064
Comparative study of facial laser acupuncture and laser conventional technique for facial rejuvenation by long pulse ND YAG 1064
Abstract:
Sub infrared wavelength laser (cold laser,) had been used in laser acupuncture with good result similar to classical metal needle acupuncture. It had been used in cosmetic laser acupuncture for facial rejuvenation with good results. 1064 Long pulse Nd YAG was well known modern non- ablative laser for facial rejuvenation. Yet there hadnt published study to compare efficacy of both. It was interesting that same laser modality using in conventional compare to acupuncture technique. What would be the results?
Objective: To compare efficacy for facial rejuvenation between laser acupuncture and conventional technique by 1064 Long pulse Nd YAG
Method: 25 Thai female healthy volunteers, ages32-64, split-face received 1064 Long pulse Nd YAG laser treatment conventional and acupuncture technique,
1 treatment per 2 weeks for 4 times, evaluation at 12th weeks.1 Clinical evaluation by independent 3 physicians scored facial improvement by photographic document comparing between pre and post-treatment. 2 Specific objective evaluations, elasticity, pigment, moisture, oily and hydration by measurement value comparing between pre and post-treatment from scientific instruments.3 Self-assessment and satisfaction evaluated by questionnaires.
Results: Among 25 volunteers enrolled complete the study the results 1Clinical evaluation. All improvement score of firm, smooth and pigment werent statistically significant.2 Specific objective evaluations, all elasticity, moisture, pigment, oily and hydration werent statistically significant. Conventional technique decreased pigment significant at p value 0.01 and increased TEWL significant at p value <0.01 Acupuncture technique increased TEWL significant at p value 0.03 the others werent significant. Percent difference of all, elasticity, moisture, pigment, TEWL and oily werent statistically significant. 3 all volunteers satisfied in both techniques.
Conclusion Efficacy of conventional and acupuncture techniques for facial rejuvenation by Long pulse Nd YAG 1064 werent statistically significant. Although acupuncture technique received less number of shots, less surface area for energy receiving .Because of acupuncture points potential property. So it could be another alternative technique.
