Abstract:
This study aims to comprehend about the logistics infrastructure in Chiang Khong district, Chiang Rai province, Thailand. The opportunities and threats of the logistics providers are determined in order to assess the logistics business performance and find the logistics improvement model for this area. Purposive Sampling method is used with various sample groups, such as The Custom officer who involved in order ensuring all documents for an export and an import of goods at the check point, the Logistics provider, Vice president of commercial in Logistics and related information division e.g. warehouse in Chiang Rai provice, Private office in Chiang Rai province and Chiang Khong custom check point. Research data was collected by questionnaires, in-depth interviews and observation. The external factors were analyzed by BEC Model from the point of view of the logistics providers; therefore, the logistics business performance is assessed by Delphi Technique.
Finding from the logistics providers point of views, the logistics business performance in this area is at a satisfactory level. Most problems are caused by the differences of trade regulation in each GMS countries, various Trade Barriers, inequitable transit Fees and unstable
politics issues of trade partner countries. However, the logistics providers are continuously facilitated and supported by government sector.
