Abstract:
This study aims to comprehend more about the logistics system in Chiang Khong district,
Chaing Rai province, Thailand and find both adverse effects and benefits of ASEAN Economic
Community (AEC) opening to the local logistics providers. In order to find logistics improvement
model of border cities in Chaing Rai province, data was collected by observation and in-depth
interviews. The external factors were analyzed by PESTELIA Analysis and quantitative analysis
model was constructed. Finding from the logistics providers point of views, most problems are
caused by non-stable and complicated trade regulation of trade partner country. Moreover, they
are negatively affected by continuous increase of business competitors and foreign investment.
However, government sector still continuously supports logistics business and develops
infrastructure to sustain the import-export sectors. In any case, the logistics providers should be
prompt, fully serviced and set up their business partnerships.
