Abstract:
The objective of this research is to develop an information system for instrument
calibration process in order to improve its work efficiency. Currently, the selected factory
have faced some problems in calibration process such as data missing, wrong planning
of measurement calibrations, taking much time consuming in operations, and many
repeated transactions and documents. This is because of lacking of information system.
All calibration processes and documents are performed and kept manually. By this
method, it is hardly to retrieve or keep data. Thus, this research aims to develop the
information system by using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and Microsoft Excel as
main tools in developing. After implementation period, the result indicates that the data
missing problem is eliminated since all data are kept in the system, the wrong calibration
planning problem is eliminated because all calibrations are planned automatically, the
operation time of calibration process is reduced up to 97.5% since many unessential
tasks are cancelled, and finally the repeated transactions are also eliminated since all
essentials data are shared. Based on the result above, it is obviously seen that the
overall efficiency of calibration process is improved.
