Abstract:
Purpose : The main purposes of this study were 1. To find out the demands, interests, attitudes as well as benefits in term of educational from the existing programs of people in Northeastern Region. 2. To find out the radio programs provided by the radio stations in Northeastern Region. 3. To compare the demand for radio programs and those provided by the radio stations in Northeastern Region. Procedures: The methodes used in the collection, of data were both documentation and interview mainly based on December, 1975 unpublished materials from radio stations. The field research was conducted through questionaires dealing with interests, opinions and benefits that the audiences gained from the programs. The sample consisted of people and stations in Northeastern Region. Results : 1. The distributed programs in Northeastern Region were classified in to three categories as entertainment program, news program and knowledge program with the percentage of 51.87, 26.10 and 22.03 respectively. 2. The audiences were most interested in listening to entertainment program, news program and knowledge program with meams of 3.96, 3.09 and 2.99 respectively. 3. The audiences suggested that the radio stations should provide more programs invious categories especially those relevant to their dialy lives. Besides the existing deficiencies and the presentation of programs should be irresistibly improved. 4. Rank correlation between means of demand for radio programs and means of programs broadcasting were moderate. Recommendations: More knowledge program should be added in entertainment programs. In order to satisfy listening Characters of the audiences, the time factor should be taken into consideration. Within the region there should be a program center. The station should publish interesting and useful document to their daily lives. There should also be an official staff carrying out the evaluation of the programs. In order to improve the program properly, the survey demand of radio programs should be conducted occasionally. Student at technical institution in the region should play action roles in improving existing deficiencies and modernizing the station interms of technique, administration and program management, in order to offer full benefit to the listeners and raise the standard of listeners in general.
