Abstract:
Frozen food industry has been continuously growing for the last 10 years. It
becomes one of the increasingly competitive industries, therefore; improvement of the
production efficiency is an important factor affecting its competitive advantage.
According to this research, a selected industry was a small factory that produced frozen
Nile Tilapia with 2.02 tons per day capacity, it was found that the factorys production
capacity did not conform customers demand which is in average of 4 tons per day at
the present. It was confirmed that the current production capacity was insufficient for the
increasing demands. This research aimed to simulate to find the optimized approach for
improving frozen Nile Tilapia production lines efficiency, in order to balance the
utilization of its limited resources. Value Stream Mapping was used to identify problems
and non value added. Activities occurred to obtain the solution. It can be done through
using computer simulation technique to simulate the actual operation of the production
line, and then perform a validation of an improvement developed in this research. The
improvement method proposed in this research was to optimize an improvement
method of the production by using simulation technique.
