Abstract:
This research is a pre experimental design. The objective was to study effects of visual arts design teaching by using graphic organizers on the learning outcomes of 10th grade students in three domains: cognitive domain, affective domain and psychomotor domain. The sample group was 60 students from Khamkaennakhon Schoool, Khon Kaen Province, in second semester of 2010 academic year. The sample was divided into experimental group and control group 30:30. The research instruments which constructed by the researcher were 1) visual art design lesson plans. 2) visual art design by using graphic organizers lesson plans. 3) visual arts assessment rubric form 4) mind mapping assessment rubric form 5) a set of pre-test and post-test, and 6) questionnaire on satisfaction of teaching visual art design by using graphic organizers. Analyzed data revealed by arithmetic mean ( ), standard deviation (SD), percentage, frequency and t-test. It was found that: 1) the cognitive learning of the experimental group with arithmetic mean was 20.50 or 68 percent. 2) The experimental group had arithmetic mean of post-test more than pretest and the control group at .05 level of statistical significance. 3) The experimental group had scores of arithmetic mean of the two pieces of visual art works-commemorative button of Khonkaen Province and fantasy world graphic design on T-shirt were 23 and 24.43 or 92 and 97.72 percent and, 4) the experimental group were satisfied with the teaching model of visual arts design though using graphic organizers. It can conclude that this teaching model can restructure students schematic system, increases their learning effective cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain.
